Tomorrow Iowa,
Historic future,
Change is on the horizon,
Why is it that time takes time?
We know the worth of a good woman,
Ceilings are going to break tomorrow,
When Iowa’s first Black American Female becomes Governor,
This non progressive state,
Where my community were allowed to wed,
Two friends of mine were one of the first gay couples to wed,
Then they became foster parents,
Told they could not adopt because they are Gay!
I am beyond proud of Bill and Otter,
Now they have five adopted children,
Not in New York City,
Right here in Iowa,
Where before Iowa was a state my great,great grand parents game from Pennsylvania,
In covered wagons,
Tomorrow we take the democrats,
Out lesbian Empath Poets take Iowa back?
