My grand dad Paul John Andrew Heike was in France,

WWI,at Flanders First Sargent Medical Corp.

Grand dad’s detail was to remove dead and injured,

Comrades from the trenches,

Nineteen forty-six Leon Norbert Heike,

Son of a soldier and a courageous Yiddish lady who married a Lutheran minister’s son,

It was end of WWII,

Dad and his company.were sent in after the bombing of Heroshima,

In nineteen seventy-eight,

Fort Jackson,S.C. in class A’s I stood,

Graduate into the USARMY,

That soldiers love,

Faith,

Honor runs deep in the heart of America,
