You never know

Racist,

Bullies,

Near,

Under your nose,

A few days ago chatting with a friend,

Someone I thought a good guy,

In someways put me in mind of me before I became a writer,

I said what I felt,

No holds bard,

Honest all the way,

Found out in Eighty-five the written word held more power,

I was coming out,

Had my first Gay friends,

Love gay men,

Such freedom,

Had a friend in ninety-five I told everything to,

Her husband a racist,

She pretended my gay friends friend,

We worked at a racist place,

Mount Rushmore two gay men worked there after an out lesbian,

The company made it hard to remain,

Few hours,

Short split shifts,

Still charging for room and board,

Paulette took offense when I asked her not to share our conversations with her husband the bus driver,

Lost her friendship,

Pete my neighbor said he saw a show with two men kissing,

I’m ashamed of me more them him,

He wished they were all dead,

I live hear,

I said nothing,

I stewed on my truth till now,

I no longer view his friendship in the same light.

  1. OMG now I wished I never gave him the couch. Oh well, live and learn. Gosh I wonder what he would of said if he saw us kissing if I had stayed. Does he know you’re gay? Dang that’s sick.
