Dad,
Dr.Leon Norbert Heike(dad) would come home sweaty and wore out,
Dark tanned deeply this Wisconsin Iowa farm boy,
Kin to the Cheese Kraft family,
Great nephew to three uncles that served in the Czar of Prussia guard,
The guard was called the Uzars,
Dad covered with sweat and coppertox,
Coppertox a disinfectant dad used on horses and cattle,it was purple,
Under his white T.Shirt dad was white as white could be,
Summer noon dad usually brought home a couple feed sacks of candy sweet corn,
That was a meal,
It was yummy dad always took the cobs out to the farm.
The corn not ate we cut off,
Froze and ate was a treat.
Dad fenced,
Worked hard,
Wish he never drank,
Now he and Ellen remains are in the family lake at Cub Lake,in Sawyer County.
My only regret is that dad seem to like others more then his oldest daughter.
Its hard to be close a father whose weapon was words,
Good times were sprinkled in life,
I wish they were easier to see,
Dad dearly loved oldest grandson Robert John Cook grandson of a wife beater.
It would have hurt dad to the bone what Robert did in August of 2014.
I live surrounded with memories,
Mom endured Gaslighting,bullying then praying for death at the hands of her eldest daughter in Granbury Texas.
Mother won and escaped vie death with a Massive stoke brought on with two codine packs a week placed on her our eighty seven year old mom.
I told mom vie a nurse that codine on a diabetic over sixty were not prescribed Codine. The increase likelihood of massive strokes or heartattacks.
Dad’s as free as mom and Ellen are. That’s not fare!
I smile feel them near,
But realize I’m empty and alone,
Memories and my cats,
If it were not for the books I read and try to stir people about the importance of words.
