We hear it at military furnerals,
Its heard daily on base,
Written by a commanding officer,
Southern after a terrific tragic engagement,
Fallen strewn across a field,
Various stages of dying,
Can you see it!
Can you smell the cannon smoke,
Air enveloping all smells,
All boys crying crying out Momma,
The high ranking office,
A musician before the war,
Wrote Taps to honor all ,
Falling,
Both sides,
Americans
One and All!
John Wayne read a poem once,
Thats how I went from not wondering about Taps,
Then overly prouder of my American history.
