Loved car hops

When I was a kid,

Car hops was fast food,

In Waukon Iowa it was A&W,

Girls with food on a tray,

Tray tested on the wondow,

Glass Gallon jug of Root beer,

There was class with the food,

Sure we weren’t at a curb,

We drove in,

Ordered through a car speaker,

Remember them!

Awe they were smaller attached to the car menu board,

Drive -in had speakers,

Clunky large things always put me in mind of Fred Flintstones Meal heavier then his car,

Things were amazing,

Families all squashed in front seat to see movie,

Loud,

Static,

Outside,

Dad would go stand in a line,

Pop came in plastic cups,

Always split,

We were asleep in bed in the morning,

Thanks mom and dad,

Funny people never say thank you when people breathe,

Last night I heard it,

Not the ghost of me,

Why do peole respond no trouble,

People should counter a fight with,

“i love you!’

Will will never forget precious moments,

Root beer stand gine now in Waukon,Iowa,

Replaced by lumber yard ,

Nearest A&W La Crosse Wisconsin,

You go in with a mask,

Take it off when inside,

Root bear can go home in plastic,

Taste of Root beer not the same,

They have a lovely jute box for show,

Seems cool stuff from youth,

Replaced by plastic

Few movie threater still around,

Saw first movie with mom and half sister,

‘Mary Poppins’ fell in love at five,

Pocohonics,Iowa

Last movie at drive in with oldest newphew,

I was sixteen movie was ‘Star Wars’

In Decorah,

Write this whie women I love sleeps,

I love you we use to say everyday,

Guess its best when its real,

Mechanical like plastic with root beer.
