Sky as blue as cornflowers

Silly but true,

The husk silk found on corn snot blue,

The cornflower delicate and true,

Blooms near the ground and blue,

Sure sign winter’s gone,

Robin’s return,

Calf’s baying for their ma’s,

Bull frogs are jumping, somewhere fish are biting,

In my minds eye sit I,

Bucket of thick nighcrawlers sliming the dirt,

A fishing poles back in my hand,

Old dear memories like friends gone before me,

A drive through the country,

Along the ditches grows one or two blue corn flowers,
