Youngest of Doc N.E.and Wava Heike,
Born July nineteen hundred and fifty-six,
Not yet sixty-five,
French horn player in high school,
Collected those little trolls, and really small dolls,
I lost my favorite cousin when I came out,
Karen gave her daughter her mom’s name Wava,
I know Wava from a distance,
I will always see my Karen in owl glasses,
Sommersaulting, dancing,canoing,
Times at the family cabin,
In times of pain saved me,
Fishing,swimming,
Singing around the old player piano,
Riding home with the cousins when we lived in Howard,Wisconsin,
Karen’s family lived in Seymour,Wisconsin,
Fireworks at Winter,Wisconsin,
Watching bear as a family at the dump,
Night trips to the outhouse,
Cooking pancakes and breakfast in the kitchen,
Sitting on the bench by the window to the porch,
Walking to Bear Lake,
All seasons,
The lip tree,
Sanning( I can’t see though my tears)
Karen was more my sister then my baby sister,
I will always remember that time you’all came to visit in Waukon,
We went out to the farm,
Walked down the long hill,
Arms linked,
Singing The hills are alive with the sound of music,
Dad and Norm watched from the truck by the barn,
It was fun that we lived in Waukon and other Heike’s lived in Seymour,
waukon( sounds like Walk- on,)
Seymour ( sounds like See-more)
Walk on and See more or
See more and Walk on,
Writing letters,
Planning things for summer vacations together.
Looking forward to seeing her,
Singing at the player Piano,
Karen Heike I have missed you since 1998,
I never once stopped loving you,
Your spirit is always welcome,
Now your with grandparents and your mom,
Bet Wava and your dad came for you,
Love you always,
Your cousin
Valerie K.Heike,
Uncle and Aunt Daughter of Leon and Marian eldest daughter,
Sorry for your loss. Hang on to those nice memories.
