A fathers thoughts

My dad always said before I tried

‘Doesn’t matter what you do you’re going to fail!’

Mean advice!

Told my cousins I was retarded,

That way no one wondered why at eighteen I was not married,

and pumping out young.

At fourty told a cousin who thought I was slow,

Not slow Gay!

Other fathers told stupid hurtful things to their young too!

Like you can not date ‘you have too much wrong with you!

Not nice!

Not loving!

Lasting,harmful!

Still that daughter loves.her daddy,

He is ninety-two,

Bad advice dosen’t stop love, his Georgian daughter,

Loves and honors her father,

A man who rather have her believe she is not worth love or…

Her own life if it means proudly walking in her own gay life.

Why do parents believe they have the ‘Right’,

To dictate who their children are

Or interlope on who they are keeping them alone till death.

Why can’t parents see their children as individuals worthy of the right to mature as equal adults?

My own folks including: not allowing me to talk to mom as an equel.

A friend,

Trusted companion gay or not,

If dad were here today and raised his arm to me I’d cringe!

That’s not love or respect that’s fear!
