I know what your thinking that’s a dog’s name but there you are wrong for this little dog of sheep herding blood black and white in colors first lived on an Amish farm. Annie Yoder of Allamakee County.
I loved this seeet boy since I first met him.I would drive out to Annies to pick up her children or Annie and open the old Cadillac door and my boy would run over and leap on to my lap.
He was just a baby then at six month Annie had his life that of a dog staked to a pole, no where to run.No one to love.I so hated him there but as a full time student all I coukd hope for was that my Godson/ nephew Dan coukd meet and fall in love with him like I did the first time I stuck him in my jacket he was so cold.
The Amish have No inside firfamily. Most people who never experience the love of the ones seen as cats and dogs never see they are not pets they are companions. The last time before I got Dan to go out to Annies with me it was a blistering Iowa humid summer day and my sweet booy was simply tied with no water to three crappy old dog houses. Dan wanted him.
Dan at the tome was a forestry student going to Iowa State mores the pity my Boomer still had a crappy life except he had a lovely boy that loved him. Boomer spent his days tied in a small yard with no where to run.
Ellen Beth Heike Mathis my baby sister had just lost her second chocolate lab Brandy and was all alone at her home three miles in the country. Ellen and Boomer became the best of friends.Boomer Dan’s name for my boy gave him to his mom.Dan’s girlfriend had wiener dogs and so Boomer was like me a square peg in a round hole world.
Ellen and Boomer were blest to have that special friendship I envy Boomer for being able to touch my little sisters heart.
So smart Boomer was and Ellen treasured him so. In my heart of hearts he waits with the other fir family I have lost in sixty one years more faithful and trust worthy then any human in my blood family.
Funny how people easily throw away family like we are so easily replaceable. We lost Boomer last week like my Theodore and moms Rusty .
Ellen Beth Heike Mathis of Waukon Iowa had a devastating fire I was told by a friend having cowards that run in the vein on my family no one bothered to tell me my only sister is alive but we lost the best shepard my black and white Pal.
Rest easy my little love I’ll see you soon.
